After I posted Martha’s amazing maternity session a couple of weeks ago I promised that it wouldn’t be long before I shared photos from her baby boy’s newborn session—and here they are! Little Amadu Mufasa was the sweetest thing and you are going to love his baby pictures!

Although family photos are always an option for my signature newborn sessions, sometimes parents prefer to just focus the entire photoshoot on baby, which was what mom decided to do. I love both types of sessions, but you’ll never hear me complaining about focusing the entire time on the baby—especially one as cute as this. :)

Mom said they are probably going to use his middle name, Mufasa, over his first name, so of course we had to bring at least a little bit of a Lion King theme into his images. She brought a lion outfit and crown that were SO adorable! I don’t think this little guy has to wait to be king—he’s there already!

I also loved the rich yellows and earthy browns that mom chose for her little man’s newborn photos. Such a pretty color combination.

Mufasa slept for most of our time together, but he had a few moments of wakefulness too. I don’t mind at all when babies wake up for a bit during their session. For one thing, I always build in extra time so we don’t have to feel rushed if they need soothing to settle down. And for another, it gives me a chance to photograph those gorgeous baby eyes!

This family lives in Portland, Oregon which means it’s a bit of a drive to get to my photo studio in Eugene. So we saved the ordering appointment for Martha’s maternity pictures until she came down with Mufasa to do his newborn session, just to make it a little more convenient. It was wonderful to see how happy she was with all of her images, and we had the best time celebrating and documenting the arrival of her beautiful baby boy!
